The UK’s leading online retailer of baby products, Kiddicare is to open a flagship store in Rotherham in the former Best Buys unit in Parkgate.
The retailer acquired by Morrisions in 2011 has agreed to take on over the leases of ten former Best Buys stores and is set to invest around £15m to convert them to be able to offer the full Kiddicare range.
The company have estimated that around 700 new jobs will be created across the stores with the first store currently expected to open before the autumn this year.
It is expected that at these stores customers will benefit from a number of special services including VIB (Very Important Baby), free car seat fittings and lands-on learning about different products.
It’s good to see new retailers coming to Rotherham especially when you read about the rising unemployment figures published in the papers.
Having variety is important and though it may be out of the town centre it will give people options on where to shop that isn’t included in the seemingly endless and occasionally criticised growing number of discount stores.
It will provide some much needed opportunities for people to get into work while offering a quality service and range to the people of Rotherham. I look forward to seeing more retailers such as these coming to Rotherham in these uncertain times that help to bolster the spirits and regeneration of the town.
